On a visit to the wonderful Rosmond Gilford Zoo in Syracuse, I photographed a beautiful brown hawk. The hawk's face shows a fierce determined look even though captured, and injured. This hawk has a deep fire inside - a will to prevail to overcome. Mother Nature scripts the hawk with the will to survive. The hawk's instinct is to be fierce, to fight for survival. The hawk knows no other way to live.

My ride today is one of my favorites. It provides many different things to do and enjoy as I travel from the north end of Cayuga Lake south to Taughannock Falls then west over the headlands of Seneca Lake dropping into Watkins Glen. It's early in the day, late fall with a bit of crispness in the air. I decided to put the liner in my Cortech Breeze jacket, later I may take it out as the sun warms up the day. I like this jacket because it offers good protection yet; it's lightweight and vents well on a hot day.
